VUE Vision Therapy has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of binocular vision disorders in children. We see children at clinics in Guelph and North York, Ontario.
A vision assessment may be appropriate if one or more of these describes your child. Your child can have 20/20 eyesight and still struggle if their eyes are not working together the way they should.
Your child has 20/20 vision but still struggles to read.
Homework takes far longer than it should.
Your child is on an IEP for reading.
Academic support has not fully resolved the problem.
Your child is capable, but school feels unusually hard.
Many parents contact us because they believe their child has a binocular vision problem. At your child’s assessment, we evaluate how the eyes work together and whether vision therapy may be appropriate.
Eye Teaming
When eye teaming breaks down, the brain receives conflicting signals, which can create reading fatigue, skipping lines, and difficulty sustaining focus on the page.
Tracking
Poor tracking control means the eyes jump, skip, or regress across the page rather than moving in a smooth, controlled sequence from word to word.
Focusing
Accommodative function determines how quickly and accurately the eyes can shift focus from near to far and back. Weakness here leads to blurring, fatigue, and avoidance of near work.
Visual Coordination
Visual processing measures how the brain interprets what the eyes send. When this is inefficient, the child may read accurately but slowly and with disproportionate effort.
What You Leave With
If we find a weakness, we will explain exactly what is happening and whether vision therapy may be appropriate. If therapy is recommended, we design a personalized developmental vision therapy program to strengthen how the eyes work together. You leave with clear answers and a plan you understand.
1
Assess
A comprehensive assessment of eye teaming, focusing, tracking and visual processing.
2
Plan
A personalized program of behavioral and developmental vision therapy, designed for your child. Built around their specific findings, not a generic protocol.
3
Progress
As the visual system strengthens, learning can become less effortful. The work that felt unusually hard may start to feel more manageable.
Choose the clinic nearest to your family. Each location offers the same comprehensive binocular vision assessment and vision therapy program.
